*NEW* The Ancestors Circle ~ collective healing community for sensitive folk
It is possible to partner with the intelligence of the body and the Nervous System to resolve stored trauma and emotions. I work with a blended approach of somatic coaching and breathwork, specialising in working with people who are entirely new to somatic trauma healing. Read on for more details.
If talking therapies alone haven't helped you, it may be time to try a somatic approach. I specialise in working with people who are entirely new to working somatically with the body. This work allows us to overcome feelings of disconnection, dissociation and despair.
We will work together to build strong somatic understanding, education, and foundations so that you can apply this in your everyday life or graduate onto more dynamic trauma therapy such as Somatic Experiencing™, or transformational types of breathwork. You will have a greater understanding of how trauma has affected you, your body, and your emotions. You will gain lifelong tools and insights to help you on your journey.
If you are struggling with mental health difficulties or trauma, you may wish to explore somatic therapy. My unique coaching approach to somatic healing combines self-inquiry work, Nervous System regulation, breathwork, and trauma-informed attunement. I offer online sessions to both men and women over Zoom, and have been coaching and leading clients since 2021.
'Somatic Inquiry' is all about working with the body, sensations, and emotions to create spaciousness for healing to occur. This does not require hands-on work of any kind from the therapist or coach, but sometimes we may work with physical movement together. By becoming comfortable and familiar with what is known as our "felt sense" (interoception), we can gradually increase our window of tolerance and ability to be with ourselves during strong emotions. We can create more self-trust and personal power. We can bring old tension patterns and cycles to an end.
Somatic Inquiry’s lineage comes down to us through Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing™ method and also draws upon Polyvagal theory in therapeutic practice, developed by Deb Dana and Dr Stephen Porges. There is a great deal of crossover with the breathwork and embodiment worlds too, nature-based therapies, and 'parts work' such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and inner child approaches.
Hi, I'm Candy, an experienced somatic practitioner, trauma coach, trauma-informed breathworker and independent consultant at Arras Healing. I have trained in somatic trauma and attunement approaches and have been working with clients and groups since October 2021.
I work holistically with trauma using a blended approach of somatic and breathwork modalities. In the past I have worked with organisations such as Public Health and Local Authorities in providing trauma-informed systems consulting and research. I regularly take part in continual professional development with leaders in the somatic trauma healing, attunement, and breathwork fields. I'm fully insured and receive regular supervision, as well as facilitating online reflective practice spaces for other therapists, coaches, consultants, and practitioners on a regular basis. I have lived experience of trauma and hidden disabilities which bring a unique dimension and empathic connection to my work.
