I offer both functional and transformational types of breathwork to support clients to locate and resolve trapped trauma and regain their sense of wellness and safety. My approach is client-centred and somatic, honouring the wisdom and intelligence of the body and its self-healing mechanism.
We can work with the 'conscious breath' to bring about dynamic healing and integration in our lives. Where our minds are unable to move further in the journey towards recovery, the breath and the body work together as allies to bring about profound change. Read more below.
Our bodies have a built-in self-healing mechanism when it comes to trauma and nervous system overwhelm. But this won't get to work without our creating space, respect, time and patience for it. Breathwork and somatics allow the spaciousness needed for healing to happen.
One of the antidotes to trauma is generosity. Another one is attunement. Breathwork in a safe and somatic container offers these, something which your body and nervous system may not have experienced since you were very small.
"Somatic Breathwork" of the type I practice is rooted in rebirthing and holotropic breathwork. We use circular and gentle breathing to connect deeply to our bodies and the awareness stored there. I will teach and guide you to breathe non-stop (no breaks between your inhale and exhale) for an extended period of time e.g. 45 min to 1 hour. This creates space for your body to relax and release stored emotions and difficult experiences. It is a unique way of working with trauma, mental health, dissociation, anxiety, depression, or even just personal development.
Sessions generally last up to 2 hours and are facilitated by experienced Breathwork Practitioner, Candy. You will be supported and grounded throughout your session, and at all times you have the option of how deeply into your process you wish to go at any given moment. You will be fully supported through the experience including through any intense feelings or memories that arise. There is a saying in the breathwork world that the breath is wise and it will not take you anywhere that you are not ready to go.
As well as transformational somatic and rebirth breathwork, Arras Healing also offers functional breathwork. Some brief info is given below. I normally work with a blended approach of somatic trauma and functional breathwork, depending on what is arising for clients in-the-moment.
We can transform physical and mental health through the simple power of the breath and by learning how to 'breathe well.' Through working with the body, we can heal tension and repetitive patterns in our biology and our breath, which are causing us difficulties and pain. Functional breathwork and breath coaching is suitable for a wide range of conditions. I hope this helps, please contact me with any other questions.
All bookings are via email or telephone.
Hi, I'm Candy, holistic somatic practitioner, trauma coach, trauma-informed breathworker and independent consultant at Arras Healing. I have trained in somatic trauma treatment approaches with Dr Thomas Hübl PhD and the AIR School of Breathwork and have been working with clients and groups since 2021.
I work holistically with trauma. My special interests are in healing complex trauma, anxiety, burnout, narcissistic abuse, sexual exploitation, relational abuse, and war trauma. I also work part-time as a tutor in breathwork for the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB). In the past I have worked with organisations such as Public Health and Local Authorities in providing trauma-informed systems consulting. I regularly take part in continual professional development (aka CPD) with the likes of Peter Levine, Richard Schwartz, Gabor Mate, Diane Poole Heller and other leaders in the somatic trauma healing and bodywork fields. I'm fully insured and receive regular supervision, as well as facilitating online reflective practice spaces for other therapists, coaches, consultants, and practitioners on a regular basis. I have lived experience of trauma and hidden disabilities which bring a unique dimension and empathic connection to my work.
