Awareness of breathwork and its multitude of benefits is on the rise, thanks to the efforts of Wim Hof, Patrick McKeown, James Nestor, Arielle Schwartz, and many others.
Rebirthing Breathwork is similar to holotropic breathwork, in that we use "conscious connected breathing" to connect deeply to our bodies and the wisdom stored there. This means breathing non-stop in a circular fashion (no breaks between your inhale and exhale) for an extended period of time e.g. 1 hour. This creates space for your body to relax and release stored emotions and difficult experiences.
Since we were born (and even when we were in the womb) our bodies and tissues have taken on our experiences through life. Rebirthing helps to connect us to our bodies through the wisdom of the breath. It is a unique way of working with trauma, mental health, anxiety, depression, or even just personal development.
Developed by Leonard Orr in the 1970s, we call it "rebirthing" due to the origins of using water during the experience. It was soon discovered that the same transformative effects could be achieved without water, with many clients feeling as though they are being born again or seeing with new eyes.
Sessions generally last up to 2 hours and are facilitated by an experienced Rebirth Breathwork Practitioner. You will be supported and grounded throughout your session, and at all times you have the option of how deeply into your healing you wish to go at any given moment. You will be fully supported through the experience including through any intense feelings or memories that arise. And there is always time at the end of your breathwork experience to talk about the session and your journey.
Breathwork of this kind can lead to deep and profound changes in your perception of yourself and the world. It can unlock our full potential as human beings. To get the most from your journey, Arras Healing recommends a series of 6-10 sessions at intervals that feel right for you.

We breathe approximately 21,000 times a day. That’s 21,000 opportunities to improve your health and wellness. Ancient wisdom teachers, such as yogis and monks, have known about the power of the breath for thousands of years. This knowledge is now coming back to the forefront of society.
Breathwork has many benefits, too many to name here. When we can resource the body back into safety and coherence, this begins to send strong signals to the mind and brain that we are okay, and so we can begin to release years of anxiety, depression, and even trauma and chronic illnesses. This leads to improved physical health, as well as accelerated improvements in mental health.
Breath Coaching is particularly great for when you're looking for some extra resources to support you with stress and self-care, or when you know that you could just be breathing "better" for your physical health (such as during recovery from viruses and illness, asthma and allergies, or healing from anxiety and panic disorders).
You will be supported to build practices into your daily routine which will have a positive and long-lasting impact on your wellbeing.
Prior to attending a session, I will ask you some questions about your general health as there are some conditions (such as heart conditions, epilepsy or early pregnancy) where it is not advisable to take part in breathwork.
